I went kitesurfing a couple days ago and it was the most incredible feeling ever, im going to share to you the struggles and successes I had during this remarkable journey!
Preparing the kite and lines is always the most bothersome part of kitesurfing and is probably the reason I don’t go every second of the day. First you must unwind the lines into the water then pull them in again to assure their not a birds nest of knots. Sometimes when its a real tangle, you must sit down and pull every single line through, its infuriating! Finally when you have clean lines you can pump up your kite and connect each line to it. Put your harness on and grab your board, get ready for the rollercoaster of a ride kitesurfing.
The first feelings you have after hoping into the water attached to your kite is confidence and determination, committed and concentrated on launching your kite of the water and taking off. Little do you know, its everything but that… You first need to reorientate yourself to the kite and remember all the little affective tips and lessons you were taught. After all your hard work, you’ll finally get up and get into a roll. That’s how I felt, well most of the time. i launched myself up and flew across the water like a cheetah on land. I carved into the wind and cruised right over the shallows often spotting beautiful eagle rays swimming by. The feeling was indescribable, I felt free as a bird but at the same time in complete control. This sport is so beautiful because when I’m out in the sea, it’s my thoughts, my emotions and tranquility. The breeze on my face, the water splashing onto me, it felt rewarding after the hours of pushing and learning I was doing. i had finally gotten the hang of it! it felt so exciting and I was grinning from ear to ear!
This was my wonderful experience kitesurfing that I am incredibly grateful for getting the chance to do. Thank you to my dad for teaching me and guiding me along the way, and another thanks to my mom for the spectacular videos I now have! Come along with me and I will share my time traversing the ups and downs of kitesurfing!
